About Clopidogrel
Clopidogrel is an antiplatelet medicine — a blood thinner in everyday language — taken once a day as a 75mg tablet to stop platelets clumping together and forming a clot. It is prescribed to people who have already had a heart attack, a stroke or a mini-stroke, who have had a stent placed in a coronary artery, or who have narrowed arteries in the legs. It is not a treatment for high blood pressure or cholesterol, though most people taking it are on medicines for those as well.
